The Future of LeBron James

Where Will This 2-Time NBA MVP Go Next?

On July 1, basketball great LeBron James will become a free agent. And, with two consecutive NBA MVP titles to his name (2009 and 2010), there is tons of speculation about where he will end up and why. Even though his surprising under-performance during the 2010 Eastern Conference semifinals series is still fresh in the minds of basketball fans, James is still widely considered to be one of the best, if not the best (as his MVP titles would suggest), player in the NBA. So, the question remains. Where will LeBron James go now? Among the speculated cities are Miami, Chicago, and New York... which means that, if he decided to play for any of those cities, we might soon see King James teaming up with such amazing players as 2006 NBA Finals MVP Dwyane Wade or 2009 Rookie of the Year Derrick Rose. Or maybe LeBron will stay with the Cavaliers and finally bring a Finals title to Cleveland. Everyone seems to have an opinion on where he should go and why. New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg has said, "I think it would be great for New York if he would come here." Even President Obama weighed in on the issue; David Axelrod, the president's senior adviser, has said, "as a Chicago fan, the president thinks LeBron would look great in a Bulls uniform." Wherever James ends up, two things seems certain: this basketball great will continue to be one of the greatest players in the NBA and will continue striving to finally earn his first NBA Finals title.
