Presidential Candidates Embark on Super Tuesday

Super Tuesday will take place on Feb. 5, which will hold the largest-ever simultaneous number of state U.S. presidential primary elections.

 

Twenty-four states and American Samoa are scheduled to hold either caucuses or primary elections for one or both parties on Super Tuesday.

 

As of Feb. 2007, the following states were designated for this Super Tuesday: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Missouri, New Mexico Democrats, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Utah and West Virginia Republicans.

 

The following states have changed their elections to February 5: Alaska, Arizona, CaliforniaColorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Idaho Democrats, Illinois, Kansas Democrats, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana Republicans, New Jersey, New York and Tennessee.

 

The Democratic candidates are Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) and Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY).

 

The Republican candidates are Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and Sen. Ron Paul (R-TX).
