UK Issues Air Travel Warning as Volcanic Ash Cloud Continues to Cause Trouble

The United Kingdom has already issued warnings to air travelers that a number of flights could be cancelled on Sunday as the ash cloud produced by Iceland’s Eyjafjallajokull volcano threaten to disrupt flight paths.

According to the Department for Transportation several airports across southeast England could be affected by the disruption. The announcement comes after studying five-day ash prediction charts that suggested the ash cloud could pose problems.

While the prediction charts forecast problems there is also an understanding that things could change quickly. Previous forecasts related to the ash cloud had predicted the next 18 hours but NATS, the air traffic control body, opted to go with a five-day forecast to better prepare airports.
