Transcendental Meditation Teacher to the Beatles Dead at 91

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, made famous for teaching the famous band, The Beatles, the art of transcendental meditation, died February 5 of natural causes.  The 91 year old was said to have died peacefully in his home in Holland.

Transcendental meditation, or TM, is a meditation technique that is practiced every day for 20 minutes with eyes closed and is not to either concentrate or contemplate.

Yogi befriended the Fab Four but eventually ended the relationship when he caught them doing drugs at his Himalayan retreat.

John Lennon honored the guru by referencing him in the song “Sexy Sadie.”  Lennon also quit his experiments with LSD to further pursue meditation.

The Rolling Stones and Clint Eastwood were also students of Yogi.
