Celtics Win Game 1; End Orlando's Streak

Boston Takes the Lead in the East NBA Finals

On Sunday, the Boston Celtics defeated the Orlando Magic to win Game 1 of the East NBA Finals. The impressive Boston victory ended a 14-game Magic winning streak that began on April 2, during the regular season. As usual, the "Big Three" of the Celtics did not fail to deliver, with Ray Allen recording 25 points, Paul Pierce 22 points, and Kevin Garnett 11 rebounds. Vince Carter led the Magic scoring with 23 points, with Dwight Howard scoring only 13 points (but recording 12 rebounds). After the game, Celtics coach Doc Rivers said, "I think we've found ourselves again." Carter said, "I think it was a wake-up call that we really needed. Now it's what are we going to do about it? How do we respond?" Fortunately for basketball fans, we will soon be able to see how the Magic will respond; Game 2, which will be played in Orlando, airs on Tuesday at 8:30 PM EST.
