Injured Bynum to Play for Lakers
Will Bynum's Injury Hold Back the Lakers?
On Monday night, the Los Angeles Lakers will play the Phoenix Suns in Game 1 of the East NBA Finals. But will Andrew Bynum, the starting center for the Lakers, be ready? According to a report from ESPN.com, Bynum, who helped the Lakers win the NBA Finals last year, suffered a torn meniscus on April 30 and, since then, has been visibly struggling during the playoffs. Even though he sat out of practice for the last week, Bynum says that "It's just worse. A little worse, but I'm still able to play through it so I'm going to keep pushing ahead." Lakers coach Phil Jackson said, "Andrew, he's running with some limitations but he still looks good. It's still good to see him out there. We're just monitoring it." Despite his injury, Bynum has been able to at least help the Lakers advance to the East Finals, but will his hindered pace and jumping ability be too much a detriment for the Lakers during what will surely be a great series against the Suns, which features such NBA greats as Steve Nash and Amar'e Stoudemire? Only time will tell. Game 1 of the series airs on Monday at 9:00 PM EST.
