US Stocks Mixed in Opening Session (LOW, OSIP, DBTK, HAUP)

Lowe's Companies, Inc. (NYSE:LOW) is down 3.34% to $25.20. The company today reported net earnings of $489 million for the quarter ended April 30, 2010, a 2.7 percent increase from the same period a year ago. Diluted earnings per share increased 6.3 percent to $0.34 from $0.32 in the first quarter of 2009.

OSI Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:OSIP) drops 4.13% to $57.33 on 2.10 million shares. Astellas Pharma, Japan's No.2 drugmaker, agreed to buy U.S. biotech OSI Pharmaceuticals  for $4 billion in cash in a sweetened bid that will add OSI's blockbuster cancer drug Tarceva to its line-up. Astellas will pay $57.50 per OSI share, 11 percent more than a previously proposed $52.

 

Double-Take Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:DBTK) is up 7.45% to $10.38 on 1.32 million shares. The company announced that on May 17, 2010, it entered into a definitive merger agreement to be acquired by Vision Solutions, Inc., a portfolio company of Thoma Bravo, LLC, in a transaction with a net offer value of approximately $242 million.

 

Hauppauge Digital, Inc. (NASDAQ:HAUP) plunges 14.76% to $3.35.
