Nadal Beats Federer; Makes History

Spanish Tennis Champ Beats Agassi's Record

"I'm very happy with everything so far this year. I think I've returned to my top form and that's the most important thing for me." Those were the words spoken by Spanish tennis great Rafael Nadal on Sunday, after he beat Roger Federer to win the 2010 Madrid Masters men's singles title. The win gave Nadal his 18th Masters title, two Masters titles above Federer (16) and one above the former all-time record held by tennis legend Andre Agassi (17). The win also made Nadal the first player to win all 3 clay-court Masters titles in a single year and the first player to win 3 consecutive Masters events. After the defeat, Federer said, "It's nice that we have had a chance to play each other again and live up to the expectations with a good match, and it was a nice performance from both of us. He comes up with incredible stuff. He's Rafa Nadal after all."
