Narconon Takes A Closer Look Into The War On Drugs

For decades we have heard about the war on drugs and seen drugs become more and more prevalent in our society, especially with the recent increase in prescription drug abuse. Our society is not only full of drugs but is more driven by drugs than ever as we see more and more people being incarcerated because of drug abuse, as well as the thousands that die of overdose deaths every year. Sadly since the War on Drugs began, thing have actually gotten worse.

One solution could be to stop focusing on the drug lords and drug dealers and cut off the demand for drugs. The focus should be on drug rehabilitation and education.

The Office of National Drug Control Policy compiled some alarming data that paints a picture of a losing battle. According to reports, 330 tons of cocaine, 20 tons of heroin and 110 tons of methamphetamine are sold in the United States a year – almost all these drugs were smuggled across the border. For decades the government has thrown billions of dollars in the face of illegal drugs; however we are no closer to a victory than we were when we started. Maybe this could change; maybe we could handle the incredible demand for drugs we would begin to make some headway. In fact, some
drug rehabs have already recognized this and are making substantial strides.

One such rehab is Narconon Louisiana. Narconon Louisiana is a long-term, inpatient facility that has proven that drugs and alcohol do not have to be the norm. And so far, they are right, and this is shown in the 76% success rate clients achieve for permanent recovery from drugs and alcohol after graduating the Narconon program. While most people who suffer from a drug or
alcohol addiction assume that they will eventually end up in rehab, it is common belief that relapses are normal, and often times we hear about addicts having to admit themselves into rehabs a dozen times before they finally get it right. Things are a little different at Narconon Louisiana though.

Narconon Louisiana does not subscribe to the idea that addiction is a disease. Instead clients work one on one with a counselor to figure out what problem drugs and alcohol were solutions for in the first place. Once that problem is isolated and handled clients no longer have to run away from life, constantly looking for their next fix to get them through the day. This is a concept that Narconon Louisiana attributes to the success they have in handling addiction. The idea is that drugs are poisons and that someone that seeks out a poison to lessen themselves, their abilities and essentially their life is doing so an attempt to handle something that they deem worse than the drugs. Allowing a person to handles this original problem will create a stable, drug-free person.

So, while most people consider the war on drugs is mostly across the border, the real battles are occurring in homes across the country and programs like Narconon Louisiana are here to help. If you or anyone you know is in need of help for a substance abuse problem please call
