Former ABC News correspondent John McWethy, 61, was killed Wednesday in a skiing accident at Keystone Resort in Colorado. McWethy died of blunt force trauma to the chest.
Witnesses say McWethy was skiing on a trail when he accidentally missed a turn and slammed chest-first into a tree. He was taken to the Summit Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 2 p.m.
McWethy graduated from DePauw University in 1969. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from the school in 2002. He also had a master’s degree in journalism from Colombia University.
