G&G Holistic – Neuro-Linguistic Programming As Part of the Drug Rehab Program

Just the words “neuro-linguistic programming” sounds complicated, but when one breaks down each part of the phrase, it becomes clearer. Neuro, of course, has to do with the brain; linguistic refers to language and words, programming deals with teaching yourself or being taught to change negative and possibly even inaccurate thoughts to positive ones.

Oftentimes, one of the first sensations felt, especially when a person uses drugs or alcohol or the first time, is a feeling of empowerment. In fact, sometimes it is prior feelings of inadequacy or low self-esteem that lead a person to try drinking alcohol or using drugs, especially if that person has been told by someone else that the substance will make them feel like a different person.

Not surprisingly, many times, when a person is under the influence, he may feel exactly the opposite of how he normally does. He may believe there is nothing he cannot do. The drinking or drug use may make him feel that he is the funniest and most entertaining person in the room. However, once the buzz or high has worn off, the original self-deprecating feelings often return, sometimes worse than what they were.

When the old, negative thoughts return, rather than try to determine what is causing them, and indeed if they are even justified, a person may instead turn again to drugs or alcohol. It is this pattern that eventually leads to addiction.

G&G Holistic Rehab uses neuro-linguistic programming as part of its drug rehab program. Well-trained counselors and staff members are taught to truly listen to what you are saying, but then take it further so that they, and you, can truly understand what is not only being said but what is also being felt.

As part of the rehab program, G&G Holistic Rehab counselors will teach the client to also listen to what he is saying, but then to focus on the feelings behind the words. From there, the counselors will use neuro-linguistic programming to help the client learn how to change the negative thoughts and feelings to positive ones, and to reflect this change in the words he uses to describe himself and his feelings.

We want to help you once again believe in yourself for the person you truly are when you are not using drugs or alcohol. Please log on to our website at http://www.holisticdrugrehab.com/ or call 1-800-559-9503 to find out more about neuro-linguistic programming.
