Shuttle Launch To Go On Despite Weather

The NASA shuttle launch scheduled for today may be threatened due to severe weather and tornados that hit the South. The launch of Atlantis has been delayed since December because of fuel gauge failures. Atlantis’ mission is to transport the European Space lab Columbus to the international space station.

Five American astronauts along with one German and one Frenchman will accompany Atlantis to the space station to install the $2 billion lab.

NASA officials say the shuttle's liftoff from Cape Canaveral would go ahead as scheduled at 1:45 pm.
