US Stock Movers after Earnings (DE, RL, HRL, BJ)

Deere & Company (NYSE:DE) gains 2.55% to $58.62 on 1.03 million shares. The company said Wednesday its fiscal second-quarter profit rose on the back of improving demand for its large farm machinery in the U.S. and Canada, as well as higher prices and a favorable foreign exchange. For the recent quarter, the Moline, Ill., manufacturer said it earned $547.5 million, or $1.28 a share, compared to $472.3 million, or $1.11 a share, in the year-ago period.

Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation (NYSE:RL) slid 0.59% to $85.27. The company said Tuesday its fourth-quarter net income rose to $114 million, or $1.13 a share, from $45 million, or 44 cents a share, in the year-ago period. Revenue rose to $1.29 billion, from $1.18 billion.

Hormel Foods Corporation (NYSE:HRL) drops 1.96% to $40.96. The company posted a better-than-expected quarterly profit on Wednesday as sales improved, and the maker of Spam lunch meat raised its earnings forecast for the year despite higher hog costs. The company earned $77.9 million, or 57 cents a share, in the fiscal second quarter ended April 25, down from $80.4 million, or 59 cents a share, a year earlier.

BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc. (NYSE:BJ) is up 4.22% to $39.02. The company said Wednesday that its first-quarter profit rose to $26.1 million, or 49 cents a share, from $24.3 million, or 45 cents, a year earlier. Sales rose 13% to $2.55 billion with comparable club sales increasing by 7.8%.
