Amy Winehouse, Corinne Bailey Rae Lead Grammy Nominees for Song of the Year

Amy Winehouse and Corinne Bailey Rae are amongst the nominees for Song of the Year at the 2008 Grammy Awards, which will be held on Sunday.

The 50th Annual Grammy Awards will be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will air at 8pm on CBS.

Unlike Record of the Year, which goes to the performer and to the producer(s), recording engineer(s) and mixer(s) of a single, Song of the Year goes solely to the songwriters.

With that said, Winehouse and Bailey Rae are the only performers who also were the songwriters for their hits. Winehouse and Bailey Rae are both nominated their first single off of their debut albums: Winehouse for "Rehab" off of Back to Black and Bailey Rae for "Like A Star" off of Corinne Bailey Rae.

Jay-Z is nominated, along with Kuk Harrell, Christopher "Tricky" Stewart and Terius "The Dream" Nash, for Rihanna's "Umbrella", which also featured Jay-Z.

Tom Higgenson gets the nod for the song he wrote for his crush, "Hey There Delilah", off of the Plain White T's album Every Second Counts.

To round out the nominees, Josh Kear and Chris Thompkins are nominated for writing the Carrie Underwood hit "Before He Cheats" from her debut album Some Hearts.
