PostcardMania Joins Relay For Life

Direct mail marketing company, PostcardMania participated in the 2010 Relay For Life event.

As Coachman Park in downtown Clearwater returns to normal from the wave of Relayers who took over for the annual Relay For Life event May 7th & 8th, PostcardMania shares a few of the highlights from being one of the participating business teams.

At the beginning of the year, the Clearwater Relay volunteer committee hit the track running after hosting its annual kick-off party at the Belleview Biltmore Country Club where 15 teams signed on, including businesses such as PostcardMania, Clearwater Beach Hyatt, The Oaks of Clearwater and many more.

Throughout the months, Clearwater Relay For Life received generous support from local businesses, including PostcardMania, who donated the design services and printing for signs and the event program and Abe Moussa, of Mugs on Missouri, who hosted a fundraiser in December joined by Special Ed from Wild 94.1.

May 7th kicked off the 18-hour event with a heartwarming and inspirational Opening Ceremony where cancer survivors were honored and outstanding teams were recognized. Throughout the event, Relay teams played along with the “Rock On the Water, Cancer is a Beach” theme by creating props for the specialized laps, games and activities. Some even dressed ‘to the 9’s’ to represent their team’s theme.

In addition to the festivities and on-site fundraising, all teams had to have at least one team member walking the Relay lap throughout the 18-hour event. All teams braved the rigorous conditions to show their support in the fight against cancer. PostcardMania employee and team member, Fayette Amsden, showed his team support by walking 152 straight laps, covering 38 miles!

All in all, the 2010 Clearwater Relay For Life event turned out to be one of the most successful events to date. Relay teams soared over the event fundraising goal of $35,000 to raise over $60,000 and plan on doing the same next year!
