Investigation Finds North Korea Responsible for Sinking of South Korean Warship that Killed 46 Sailors

The international investigation into the sinking of a South Korean warship has found North Korea to be responsible, blaming a torpedo strike for the ship’s demise and the death of 46 sailors.

Almost immediately after the international report, compiled by experts from the United States, UK, Australia and Sweden, was released there were demands for further sanctions to be imposed on the North.

Those demands were met with threats by Pyongyang which pledged to go to war if sanctions were imposed.

North Korea has said the findings were a “fabrication,” and that they had no hand in the March sinking near the disputed maritime border it shares with South Korea. Despite the denials there appeared to be a wealth of evidence that supported the international report including a part of the torpedo that sank the Cheonan warship.
