Grammy Results: Winehouse, West Big Winners

Amy Winehouse and Kanye West were Sunday's big winners in the 2008 Grammy Awards. Winehouse took away five Grammys, while West grabbed four.

Winehouse captured Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, all for her song "Rehab". The 24-year old singer/songwriter also won Best New Artist and Best Pop Vocal Album for Back to Black.

Winehouse could not get a visa to leave London for her performance at the Grammy Awards, so she performed via satellite. Winehouse performed her hit songs “You Know I’m No Good” and “Rehab” live from a London studio.

West won captured Grammy Awards for Best Rap Solo Performance for "Stronger"; Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group for "Southside", a hit single off of Common's album Finding Forever; Best Rap Song for "Goodlife" featuring T-Pain; and Best Rap Album for Graduation.

West gave a memorable acceptance speech after winning Best Rap Album. As the speech got long, the music played to cut his speech short, but West kept going. He continued in his speech and got to a part where he mentioned his mother, who passed away months ago. West replied, "It would be in good taste to stop the music now". The music stopped, equipped with a loud applause from the audience as West spoke to his mother through his speech.

Bruce Springsteen won three Grammys for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance ("Radio Nowhere"), Best Rock Instrumental Performance ("Once Upon A Time In The West"), and Best Rock Song ("Radio Nowhere").

Justin Timberlake captured two Grammy Awards for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance for “What Goes Around...Comes Around” and Best Dance Recording for “LoveStoned/I Think She Knows.”

Former American Idol contestant Carrie Underwood also won two Grammy Awards for Best Female Country Vocal Performance and Best Country Song, both for “Before He Cheats”.

The surprise of the 50th Grammy Awards was the Album of the Year. With Winehouse and West both racking up Grammys and both nominated for the illustrious awards, Herbie Hancock took away the coveted Grammy for his album, River: The Joni Letters. Hancock also won for Best Contemporary Jazz Album.
