Richard Zednik Recovering from Surgery After Freak Hockey Accident

Florida Panthers forward Richard Zednik is recovering from lifesaving surgery after a freak hockey accident during a game.

Zednick lost a drastic amount of blood Sunday during the game against the Sabres. Zednik was sliced across the right side of the neck by teammate Olli Jokinen's skate. The cut to Zednik's throat severed his carotid artery and he was rushed into the hands of the Panthers' team of physicians.

The accident happened during the third period of an NHL hockey game against the Buffalo Sabres in Buffalo, N.Y. on Sunday, Feb. 10.
