President Barack Obama to Replace Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair

President Barack Obama has announced plans to replace current director of national intelligence Dennis Blair following a rough year in which the retired U.S Navy admiral took criticism for the Fort Hood shooting, the Christmas Day plot to bomb an airliner and the recent failed bombing in New York’s Time’s Square.

Blair is expected to resign on Friday, ending a brief tenure as director of national intelligence that began in January 2009. In addition to the intelligence failures, Blair had a less than ideal relationship with the CIA as the two sides differed on how to handle the issues facing the country.

A Blair became the subject of criticism in Washington his relationship with President Obama cooled and it became clear that his time as director would be short-lived.
