Alcoholism treatment gains new ground in New England

Connecticut facility offers holsitic approach to alcoholism treatment

Within the peaceful surroundings of a Connecticut drug rehab facility, lies the secret to long-term sobriety from alcoholism.

On any given day at Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center, you’ll find a variety of individuals with a variety of lifestyles, interacting with one another and participating in the vast program offerings on this sprawling, secluded 39 acre facility. What one may not realize is that the activities, which may seem a bit unusual, are the secret to Mountainside’s high sobriety success rates.

“We pioneered a program in the early 90’s that truly set a standard for drug and
alcoholism treatment centers worldwide,” began a spokesperson for Mountainside. “We saw the need for an innovative and comprehensive treatment of addictions, and the need for program options that were flexible and truly based on a person’s needs. For example, when entering alcohol rehab, not every person comes in inebriated or on the verge of physical withdrawal. While the management of physical withdrawal symptoms is certainly an utmost priority, it should be administered only to those who need it, not given en masse simply because a person enters rehab as an alcoholic. Our program addresses each person as an individual and does so, holistically , tailoring our program offerings to what is most beneficial for an individual’s long-term sobriety.”

For more than 12 years, Mountainside
Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center has led the way in offering individualized alcohol and drug addiction treatment programs. Mountainside’s licensed and certified counselors, social workers and accredited treatment team provide quality, compassionate care to each individual in a tranquil, peaceful environment conducive to optimal recovery. Their program won national attention and resulted in Mountainside being invited to Washington to meet with the White House Drug Czar, John P. Walters, who wanted to learn more about the innovative program offered at Mountainside.

In addition to its licensed and certified counselors and social workers, Mountainside provides medical services through an on-staff Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse with specializations in drug addiction and alcohol treatment. Psychiatric services are available when needed.
