Drug abuse education necessary to prevent need for drug addiction treatment
Drug addiction treatment prevention through awareness education
Drug and alcohol addiction continues to run rampant in the United States and worldwide. It’s estimated that about 6% of American households use illegal drugs on a current basis. What’s even more alarming is that statistics show that nearly one third of all Americans age 12 and older have tried an illicit drug. The good news is that nearly sixty million Americans who, in the past used illicit drugs during their youth, rejected drug use in adulthood.
The rate of drug abuse continues to increase every year and, with the increase, more effective, innovative holistic addiction treatment programs are necessary. For the past 12 years, Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center in Canaan, CT has been providing the treatment necessary for individuals to overcome their addictions.
“It doesn’t matter whether a person is addicted to alcohol, cocaine, methamphetamines, marijuana or prescription drugs,” begins a spokesperson for Mountainside. “We are able to help them overcome their addiction in a compassionate, serene environment that’s conducive to healing. We take a comprehensive approach to addiction treatment. We treat the entire person- whether they need help socially, emotionally, physically or even from a psychiatric perspective. Our cohesive team of licensed, credentialed counselors and social workers address each need individually and put together a plan that best suits the person, the individual. Our Integrated Care Model™ has been in development since our program’s inception. We’ve honed in on the facets of traditional treatment and increased the effectiveness of that treatment through an individualized approach. What has resulted is a cutting-edge approach to treatment that we’re certain will become the standard for drug rehabs worldwide.
It is estimated that close to 19,000 people in America die annually due to drug abuse. With the help of effective addiction treatment programs, those numbers can decrease. Only through public education of the dangers of drug abuse can the war on drugs be won.
For more than 12 years, Mountainside Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment Center has led the way in offering individualized alcohol and drug addiction treatment programs. Mountainside’s licensed and certified counselors, social workers and accredited treatment team provide quality, compassionate care to each individual in a tranquil, peaceful environment conducive to optimal recovery. Their program won national attention and resulted in Mountainside being invited to Washington to meet with the White House Drug Czar, John P. Walters, who wanted to learn more about the innovative program offered at Mountainside.
In addition to its licensed and certified counselors and social workers, Mountainside provides medical services through an on-staff Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse with specializations in drug addiction and alcohol treatment. Psychiatric services are available when needed.
