Biking for Multiple Sclerosis, How One Marketing Company Shows its Support

Direct mail marketing company, PostcardMania sponsors team for the annual MS Citrus Bike tour.

To put in gear the 2010 MS Citrus Bike Tour, PostcardMania sponsors jerseys for team “Chain Gang” lead by bike tour alum, Bill Zakel.

 

On May 15th, 125 teams and about 1,500 riders participated in The Citrus Tour trail spanning 150 miles starting at Bok Tower in Lake Wales, FL and ending at the Caribe Resort in Orlando, FL.

Team “Chain Gang” began their practice rides in February and increased their distance traveled each week. Through donations from friends, family and PostcardMania, the team was able to raise almost $3,000 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

 

Most teams have a personal passion why they brave the Florida heat and take on the 150 mile tour. Team members of “Chain Gang” riders have family or friends who have been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Bill Zakel says he rides for his aunt who was diagnosed with MS when she was 29 and now at the age of 50 is confined to a bed in a nursing home where she has lived for more than a year.

 

“I was very excited to hear that PostcardMania was going to sponsor my team and provide us with our amazing jerseys,” says Zakel. “The best part of the ride was crossing the finish line after riding 102 miles on the first day to complete my first century tour. This is my third year riding for MS. I ride for my aunt because she can’t…150 miles, one destination, one goal…a world free of MS!”

 

 The Multiple Sclerosis Society holds 100 bike tours throughout the year all over the country.
