When Barack Obama wins he wins big and that was the case once again as the Illinois senator took the Virginia primary in impressive fashion with 64 percent of the voters favoring his call for change compared to 36 percent for Hillary Clinton.
Obama also carried Maryland and D.C. on Tuesday, making it eight straight victories over Clinton, The New York senator must now try to regroup as Wisconsin and Hawaii are both a week away but early indication is that the results are likely to be the same.
Clinton appears to be resting her campaign on the March 4 primaries that include Texas and Ohio, two states that she will need to win if her presidential bid is to halt Obama’s run for the Democratic nomination.
With Tuesday’s victories Obama moved ahead of Clinton in the delegates count for the first time since early in the race as he now sits with 1,186 compared to Clinton’s 1,181. Democrats need 2,025 delegates to secure the Party’s nomination.
