Rush to Perform Live at BankAtlantic Center April 13

Rush will be performing live at BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise Florida on April 13 at 7:30 pm.

Formed in Toronto, Ontario in 1968, the Canadian rock band Rush has influenced modern musicians such as Metallica, the Smashing Pumpkins and Primus as well as progressive metal bands such as Dream Theater and Symphony X. The band has become known for their instrumental virtuosity, complex compositions and eclectic lyrical motifs which draw from such topics as science fiction, fantasy, libertarian philosophy and addresses humanitarian, social, emotional and environmental concerns.

The band has received multiple Juno Awards and was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1994 while individual members of the group have been recognized for their musical talent on their instruments, earning them several awards individually through magazine readers’ polls.

Rush has 24 gold records and 14 platinum records placing Rush fifth in place, behind the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Kiss and Aerosmith for the most consecutive gold and platinum albums. The band also falls 77^th on the list in US albums sales. They are tied with Nirvana, ZZ Top and Faith Hill, says the RIAA.

Formerly National Car Rental Center, Broward County Civic Arena and Office Depot Center, the BankAtlantic Center is located west of Fort Lauderdale Florida, near the Sawgrass Mills Mall. The facility was publicly financed at $185 million and was completed in 1998.
