Roger Clemens claims in a Congressional hearing Wednesday that former friend and trainer Brian McNamee lied about his steroid use.
Clemens maintains his innocence in front of House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, saying that he has never used steroids, contrary to the testimony of McNamee.
Pettitte admitted to using human growth hormones (HGH) as reported in the Mitchell Report months ago. Clemens said that he was unaware of Pettitte's use of HGH and that their friendship was tight-knit to the point where Pettitte would have told him if he did use HGH.
McNamee admitted that he injected Clemens with steroids and HGH under Clemens' direction. He also claimed that he injected Clemens' wife, Debbie, with HGH prior to a photo shoot.
In the Mitchell report, McNamee said he injected Clemens with HGH and steroids a number of times in 1998, 2000 and 2001. Clemens denied McNamee's claim when the report came out, and neither person has budged on their statements.
Rep. Dan Burton stood behind Clemens' innocence, calling McNamee a liar. "You're here as a sworn witness yet we have lie after lie after lie," said Burton. "I don't know what to believe. I know one thing I don't believe. That's you!"
Between Burton, Clemens' attorneys and McNamee's attorneys, the hearing has become a showdown, attacking the credibilities of Clemens and McNamee back and forth.
The Congressional hearing is airing live on CNN as Clemens and McNamee fire back answers to concerned Congressmen.
