Bobby Cutts Jr. Murder Trial Could Reach Verdict Soon

The Bobby Cutts Jr. murder trial is expected to reach a verdict soon as jurors indicated they may have reached a decision on at least one of the charges the former Ohio police officer faces.

Before ending their evening last night the jury asked a judge what would happen if they replaced a juror with an alternate and more specifically, would they have to start the deliberation process again.

Stark County Common Pleas Judge Charles E. Brown Jr. told the jury that no alternate would be allowed to step in since deliberations have already begun.

Cutts is facing the charge of aggravated murder related to the death of his pregnant girlfriend Jessie Davies and their unborn child. If convicted of that charge Cutts could be facing the death penalty.

To sentence Cutts to death jurors would have to believe that the murder was calculated. That would be contrary to Cutts testimony in which he said Jessie Davies’ death was caused by an accidental blow.

According to prosecutors Cutts violently strangled the 26-year-old Davies and then wrapped her body in a comforter and dumped her body in a field.

Cutts is also facing other aggravated murder charges related to the crime including termination of a pregnancy and the death of a viable, unborn child.
