American Idol Down to Top 24 as Hollywood Run Ends for Several Hopefuls

Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson delivered the good news to 24 American Idol contestants on last nights Hollywood cuts but then delivered the luggage packing news to several others as the hit reality show begins its push to uncover the next Carrie Underwood or Kelly Clarkson.

Among the Top 24 who slipped past the red pen of the judges were Carly Smithson and Amanda Overmyer. Smithson is the former contestant who was prevented from entering the Hollywood round last time due to a visa problem and Overmyer should stir things up with a blend of rock attitude.

Early favorite Kristy Lee Cook made it through as did Kady Malloy, both certainly carry the looks for American Idol but their voices may fall short by the time the Top 12 are announced.

Danny Noriega and David Archuletta both made it through as high school kids who had seem to elicit quite a following already.

Brooke White and Amy Davis both past the test as did Syesha Mercado, Alaina Whitaker, Asiah’h Epperson, Alexandrea Lushington, Ramiele Malubay and Joanne Borgella

David Cook and Robbie Carrico seem to be the guys who will carry the rocker banner for the guys as they climbed into the Top 24 and will be joined by Chikezie Eze, Colton Berry, David Hernandez, Garrett Haley, Jason Castro, Jason Yeager, Luke Menard and Michael Johns.
