2010 French Open Round 1 Results: Svetlana Kuznetsova Eases into Second Round with Straight Set Win Over Sorana Cirstea

Svetlana Kuznetsova had little trouble getting her French Open started on the right foot as she dropped Sorana Cirstea in straight sets on Sunday 6-3, 6-1 to move into the second round at Roland Garros.

Kuznetsova collected points on 77% of her first serves while Cirstea had trouble with that area of her game, winning points on just 49% of her first offerings. The Russian also managed to break Cirstea on five of ten opportunities while seeing her own serve broken just once.

Kuznetsova has two Grand Slam singles title to her credit, a U.S. Open victory in 2004 and a French Open title earned in 2009. The Russian reached the finals of the French Open in 2006 before falling to Justine Henin and reached the quarterfinals of the Australian Open in 2005 and 2009 and the quarterfinals of Wimbledon in 2003, 2005 and 2007.
