Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to Perform at the Nissan Pavilion June 8

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will be performing live at the Nissan Pavilion in Bristow, Virginia on June 8 at 7:00 pm.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers released their first album in 1976 but did not gain recognition until 1977 after the re-release of the single “Breakdown,” which peaked at #40 on the charts in 78.  The band followed the album with Your Gonna Get It!, featuring “I Need to Know” and “Listen to Her Heart” which later became the band’s first gold album.   The band’s third album, Damn the Torpedoes quickly went platinum and featured the band’s breakthrough singes, “Don’t Do Me Like That and Refugee.”

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are spending 2008 on their North American Tour performing at venues across the United States and Canada.  Steve Windwood will open for every show.

An outdoor live performance amphitheater, the Nissan Pavilion at Stone Ridge is the largest venue in the Washington Metropolitan area which can hold up to 25,000 people.  The facility first opened in 1995.  The first performance at the venue was The Village People.  Later acts featured Rush, James Taylor, Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Nine Inch Nails, Aerosmith, Godsmack, 311, Linkin Park, Poison, Sting, KISS, Steely Dan, Toby Keith Def Leppard, Roger Waters of Pink Floyd, the Vans Warped Tour and Ozzfest.  The Allman Brothers Band, Brooks and Dunn, Jimmy Buffet and the Dave Matthews Band have played at the pavilion every year since its opening.
