American Couple Vacationing in Yemen Kidnapped

An American couple, along with their driver and tour guide, have been kidnapped near the Yemen capital of Sanaa.

According to reports the four were seized by armed gunmen in the Bani Mansour district and are being held as leverage for the release of a relative being held by authorities. That demand was relayed to authorities by the driver who was allowed to make a call to the news agency AFP.

Tribes within Yemen often target foreigners in kidnapping plots, using them as bargaining chips for negotiations with a weak government.
