Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, a brand new interactive video game about rock bands, will be released in June, according to an Activision announcement Thursday.
Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, the latest installment of the Guitar Hero video game franchise, will be released on the PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii video game consoles.
The Guitar Hero franchise set an industry record, surpassing $1 billion in North American retail sales in just 26 months.
"Slated for release this June, this latest installment from the franchise with the #1 best-selling video game in 2007 puts players in the shoes of Perry (guitar), Whitford (guitar), and Hamilton (bass), as they rock out alongside frontman Tyler and drummer Kramer," said an Activision press release.
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock was the no. 1 video game title in units and dollars for 2007. The title earned more than $115 million in its first week on sale only in North America.
Since its initial release in fall 2005, the Guitar Hero franchise has sold in excess of 14 million units in North America alone, according to The NPD Group. In 10 weeks since the game’s launch, consumers have already downloaded more than five million songs.
