Sarah Ferguson “Devastated” Over Bribery Scandal

Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson says she is “devastated” after being caught in a bribery scandal. Ferguson was videotaped accepting money from an undercover News of the World reporter in exchange for access to her ex-husband, Prince Andrew.

“If you want to meet him in your business, look after me and he'll look after you … you'll get it back tenfold," Ferguson, 50, tells the reporter. “That opens up everything you would ever wish for. And I can open any door you want. And I will for you."

She accepted a down payment of $40,000, expecting to receive a total of $724,000.

"I very deeply regret the situation and the embarrassment caused. It is true that my financial situation is under stress. However, that is no excuse for a serious lapse in judgment, and I am very sorry that this has happened. I can confirm that the Duke of York was not aware or involved in any of the discussions that occurred,” Ferguson said Monday in a statement.

Prince Andrew has not commented.
