Street Racing Accident in Maryland Kills 8

Eight people are dead and at least three others suffered serious injuries when a car plowed into a crowd that had gathered to watch an illegal drag race on an Accokeek, Maryland road located in Prince George’s County.

 

A crowd of about 50 people had gathered to watch the two cars race the straightaway. The crowd rushed into the road as the cars went speeding past but a sedan driving without its lights on came up from behind and drove straight into the gathering.

 

The accident occurred on Route 210 around 3:40 a.m. and left bodies scattered along a 200-yard stretch. According to the police on the scene the driver of the sedan was uninjured but a passenger in the car was among the dead.
