Small Plane Crash at Portland International Airport Kills at least One

A small plane crashed just short of a runway at Portland International Airport on Saturday bursting into flames and scattering wreckage along its path.

The crash killed at least one person and left four injured. It was not immediately known how many passengers were aboard the plane.

It is not clear what caused the pilot of the Lancaire single-engine plane to hit just short of the runway but visibility at the time of the crash was said to be a quarter-mile or less.
