George Clooney will be looking for his second Oscar Award on Feb. 24 after earning a nomination for Actor in a Lead Role for his performance in the film “Michael Clayton.”
Clooney plays the title character in the film and portrays an attorney who finds himself in a dangerous situation when he begins to investigate the actions of a colleague in a controversial lawsuit.
The veteran actor has picked up one Academy Award for Actor in a Supporting Role in the film “Syriana” and grabbed nominations for directing and writing “Good Night, and Good Luck.”
Joining Clooney in the list of nominees for Actor in a Lead Role are Daniel Day-Lewis, “There Will Be Blood”; Johnny Depp, “Sweeney Todd”; Tommy Lee Jones, “In the Valley of Elah”; and Viggo Mortensen, “Eastern Promises.”
The 80th Academy Awards will air Feb. 24 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.
