Horror and video are still a winning combination

Dark Scribe Magazine Awards Black Quill To Book Trailer

Popular horror, thriller and suspense magazine Dark Scribe added a new category to the Black Quill Awards: Book Trailers.  Book trailers are a video synopsis of a book, or storyline preview.

Vince A. Liaguno, Editor-in-Chief of Dark Scribe Magazine says, “Recognizing that the professional writing fields that fall under the umbrella of dark genre literature needed a dedicated media voice, Dark Scribe Press proudly debuted Dark Scribe Magazine (www.DarkScribeMagazine.com ) as the premiere publication under its new small press banner in the Fall of 2007.

The focus of this non-fiction virtual magazine is to spotlight the creative forces behind dark genre literature - horror, suspense, and thrillers - and those committed to promoting it. The interactive virtual publication features in-depth author interviews, book reviews, guest columns, and a book trailer repository. For more information about our parent company, please visit http://www.darkscribepress.com/.”

Douglas Clegg’s book trailer for The Lady of Serpents was also nominated.  The Lady of Serpents was also produced by Circle of Seven Productions.

When asked about having her trailer win, author Alexandra Sokoloff said, "I'm thrilled with the honor and with the response to the trailer.  Circle of Seven Productions is brilliant at capturing the essence and experience of a book with music and images - and kudos to Dark Scribe Magazine for understanding the importance of using this medium to reach a broader spectrum of readers."  The author recently had another trailer created through Circle of Seven Productions for her book The Price which can be found on YouTube or any number of video upload sites. The Harrowing is a ghost story.  Sokoloff is a screen writer and the book plays out like a movie in your mind as you read it. The end gives the reader a bit of a surprised as the ghost turns out to be more  than what you think.  The book is published by St. Martin's Press and edited by Marc Resnick.
