Orlando Magic Win Game 4; Prevent Boston Sweep
The Magic Turn It Up in Boston
On Monday night, the Orlando Magic defeated the Boston Celtics 96-92 during overtime in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The Orlando victory, which took place in Boston, prevented a 4-0 Celtics series sweep and has some people questioning the certainty about a Celtics-Lakers Finals match-up (especially considering that the Phoenix Suns also won their first game in the Western Conference after a 2-0 Lakers lead). Dwight Howard, who (like Amare Stoudemire of the Suns) had been receiving criticism for under-performing during the early games of the series, led Orlando in scoring with 32 points. He also led both teams in rebounds with 16 and in blocks with 4. Jameer Nelson also played a crucial role for the Magic, delivering 9 assists and making consecutive 3-pointers in overtime to give the Magic the lead that they needed to win the game. No team in NBA history has ever come back from a 3-0 series deficit to win. Indeed, only 4 times in the history of North American pro sports leagues has a team come back from such a deficit to win. Does this mean that, despite their impressive Game 4 victory, the Magic have no chance to win the series? Not necessarily. Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy said, "At some point, somebody is going to come from 3-0 down and win a series. The only thing I knew for sure was it would start by winning Game 4." Magic guard J.J.
