American Tourists Kidnapped in Yemen Reportedly Freed by Captors

The two American tourists kidnapped while vacationing in Yemen have reportedly been freed by their captors.

On Monday the couple was seized, along with their driver and a tour guide, while traveling near the capital of Sanaa. It is believed the kidnappers were a local clan who were using the Americans as a chip to barter the release of a jailed tribesman.

The United States government acknowledged the kidnappings on Monday but were careful to point out they did not believe the matter to be terrorism related. By Tuesday the Americans had been freed but the fate of the driver and tour guide had not been reported.
