Famous Smoke Shop introduces Capoeira cigars

Exclusive new selection by Jesus Fuego combines a full-bodied flavor with ancient martial arts, music and dance theme

When you see the brand name of these cigars the first thing you might ask yourself is, "How the heck do I pronounce that?" Pronounced, "kapu’era," Capoeira cigars are a new full-bodied, premium cigar selection made expressly for Famous Smoke Shop by Jesus Fuego. Lauded for his Reserva Corojo No.1 and Delirium cigars, he has used a highly diverse mix of specially cured and aged tobaccos to deliver a very rich-tasting and complex cigar at a very reasonable price.

As noted in the Wikipedia, "Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines elements of martial arts, music, and dance. It was created in Brazil by slaves from Africa, especially from Angola, Mozambique and Congo sometime after the sixteenth century...The word "capoeira" had a probable origin as a derisive term used by slave owners to refer to its practice as chicken fights (the word literally means "chicken coop" in Portuguese). Another claim is that the word "capoeira" derives from the Native-American language Tupi-Guarani words kaá ("leaf", "plant") and puéra (past aspect marker), meaning "formerly a forest."  (More about the history of Capoeira can be found at Wikipedia.org.)

Capoeira cigars boast a dark, oily four-year-aged Brazilian Mata Fina Maduro wrapper, similar to the wrapper leaf used on the Delirium blend, but cured slightly differently. The core blend consist of mostly organically-fertilized Honduran & Nicaraguan Criollo and Mexican San Andres longfillers with a Costa Rican Corojo leaf binder. According to Mr. Fuego, organic fertilization brings out more oils in the leaves, and in turn, more flavor. The result is a very full-flavored smoke that is smooth, well-balanced and complex.

The idea for the cigar line was the brainchild of Famous Smoke Shop Merchandising Manager, Humberto Gonzalez. "I came up with the Capoeira concept because of my interest in mixed martial arts and how the sport’s participants (and audience) is generally a testosterone-charged environment, much like the cigar industry," said Gonzalez. "The reason I asked Jesus to make it was because his father grows tobacco in Brazil and sells it almost exclusively to the rest of the business. I envisioned a respectable, well ‘trained’ kick-ass cigar. What's also interesting is that the region in which this wrapper is grown is exactly the same distance south of the Equator as Pinar del Rio, Cuba, is north of it. Climate and growing conditions are virtually identical aside from seasons being reversed."
