French Open 2010 Round 2 Results: Roger Federer Takes Care of Alejandro Falla in Straight Sets, Moves into Third Round at Roland Garros

Roger Federer took one more step toward defending his French Open title from a year ago, taking care of Colombia’s Alejandro Falla in straight sets 7-6 (7-4), 6-2, 6-4 on Wednesday to move into the third round at Roland Garros.

Federer took the match in straight sets but had his struggles as he committed 34 unforced errors. What the Swiss star did do well was buckle down when he needed as he allowed Falla to break his serve just once in eight opportunities while converting on four of his nine break opportunities.

Federer is coming off his fourth career Australian Open title and owns a career Grand Slam having won his first French Open title last year to go along with his five U.S. Open titles and six Wimbledon titles. Federer’s 16 Grand Slam singles titles are most of any male player.
