Actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers has agreed to get treatment for his alcohol addiction. Rhys Meyers, 32, will enter a rehabilitation facility when he returns to London. This comes days after the Irish actor allegedly screamed abuse at airport staff when they prohibited him from getting on a plan because he was drunk.
Rhys Meyers was reportedly downing multiple vodkas at 7 a.m. in the VIP lounge at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport when he was due to fly to Los Angeles last week. The staff of United Airlines barred him from boarding the flight. This sent Rhys Meyers into a rage, cursing at airline employees and using a racial slur.
It will be the third time in treatment since 2007 for Rhys Meyers. He has a long history of battling alcohol addiction and has previously been arrested twice at airports in drink-related incidents. In November 2007 the "Tudors" star was arrested at the airport in Dublin, Ireland. In June of 2009 he was detained by police at Charles De Gaulle airport in Paris after allegedly assaulting a bar employee while drunk.
