Florida weather is usually nice the majority of the year. It is true that summers can be rather hot, but mornings, late afternoons, and evenings are usually good for enjoying the outdoor activities that are available at our facility. Some of these activities are organized; others are there for the client’s enjoyment during his free time.
Even the winters allow for outdoor activities. This can be especially helpful to those clients who may suffer from seasonal affliction disorder, a condition that is caused by not getting enough exposure to sunlight. Mornings and nights may be cool, but afternoons are usually perfect for getting out in the sun. Those who come from northern states where one may have to stay indoors for days on end may actually find that the rehab program has greater success, simply because they were able to leave their rooms for extended periods of time.
For those who did not know, there is nowhere in Florida that one can go where he is not at least 60 miles from the nearest beach, if not closer. Of course, Miami is much closer to the ocean than 60 miles, and our clients are able to take advantage of the natural soothing qualities that sitting on a beach and listening to the waves wash up against the shore can bring. Except for the fact that one can notice differences in his lifestyle and overall well-being as a result of being drug- or alcohol-free, one might almost forget he was in a drug rehab program.
