Lynyrd Skynyrd to Perform Live at Nationwide Arena April 12

Lynyrd Skynyrd will be performing live at Nationwide Arena on April 12 at 7:00 pm.

A Southern rock band, Lynyrd Skynyrd gained popularity in the 1970 with Ronnie Van Zant as the group’s lead vocalist and song writer. Zant tragically died in a plane crash in 1977 with guitar player Steve Gaines and backup singer Cassie Gaines.

Basing the name on Leonard Skinner, a gym teacher at Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville Florida, Lynyrd Skynyrd was a critically acclaimed southern rock group in the 1970’s and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 13, 2006.

The band’s most popular songs include “Free Bird” and "Sweet Home Alabama” which are now considered to be American anthems and must haves for FM radio.

A sports and entertainment arena in Columbus, Ohio, Nationwide Arena opened in 2000 and is the home of the Columbus Blue Jackets of the NHL.  The venue also hosts the annual Arnold Classic, a sports and fitness event hosted by the California Governor and former professional body builder, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
