CONN'S, Inc. (NASDAQ:CONN) is the biggest percentage gainer and soared 9.31% to $8.10 after it reported first-quarter profit that sailed past Wall Street's expectations helped by an improvement in margins as the electronics and home appliances retailer slashed costs and sales also beat expectations.

 

For the quarter ended April 30, the company reported a profit of $5.5 million, or 25 cents a share, compared with $11.4 million, or 50 cents, last year.

 

Analysts on average expected the company to earn 20 cents in the quarter, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. Total revenues slumped nearly 18% to $197.5 million, but surpassed expectations of $191.3 million. Same-store sales fell 19.7%.

 

GameStop Corp. (NYSE:GME) surged 4.50% to $22.63 with over 1.25 million shares after JMS Equity Research upgraded the company stock from Neutral to Buy and maintained a price target of $27. Over the past 3-month, the stock is up over 31%.

 

Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE:BBY) rose 1.70% to $41.25 with over 1.50 million shares. Best Buy Co., Inc. (Best Buy) is a specialty retailer of consumer electronics, home office products, entertainment software, appliances and related services. The Company operates retail stores and Web sites under the brand names Best Buy (BestBuy.com, BestBuy.ca, BestBuy.com.cn, espanol.BestBuy.com and BestBuyMobile.com),

 

hhgregg, Inc. (NYSE:HGG) surged 6% to $28.24 after its fiscal fourth-quarter profit dropped 28% as same-store sales and margins fell and new store openings raised expenses.

 

For the new year, the regional appliance and electronics store operator forecast earnings of $1.35 to $1.45 a share with revenue growth of 40% to 45% and same-store sales flat to up 2%. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters, on average, projected a profit of $1.32 earnings and 32% sales growth to $2.02 billion.
