Rage Against the Machine to Perform at Pinkpop June 1

Rage Against the Machine will be performing live at the Pinkpop Festival at Megaland in Landgraaf, Netherland.  The festival begins at 4:00 pm on Friday, June 1.

Los Angeles born, the American heavy metal band, Rage Against the Machine is headed by Zack de la Rocha with Tom Morello on guitar, Tim Commerford on bass and Brad Wilk on the drums.  Drawing inspiration from Public Enemy and Afrika Bambaataa, the group is known for their unique blend of hip hop, heavy metal and punk as well as la Rocha’s stage energy and rhyming style and Morello’s guitar techniques.

The band released their first album, self titled, in 1992.  After their appearance in the 1993 Lollapalooza, the band did not release an album until 1996 when they released Evil Empire.  Another three years later the group released a third album, The Battle of Los Angeles.  The group, however, broke up shortly after the release of their fourth album, Renegades, in 200.

La Rocha went on to form Audioslave with Chris Cornell of Soundgarden.

The Pinkpop Festival is the oldest annual festival in the world, according to the Guiness Book of Records.  First held in 1970, the annual event is held on the Pentecost weekend.

Lasting three days, the event will welcome 60,000 guests and host performances on three different stages.

Pinkpop has featured several artists, such as Rush, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Rage Against the Machine, plus several other artists.

The Landgraaf Megaland Park rests on 27 hectares of land in the heart of Parkstad Limburg in the Netherlands.  The park hosts several large scale events on an annual basis, including the Pinkpop festival and the World Cup as well as musical performances organized by Mojo Concerts BV in cooperation with Buro Pinkpop.
