Rage Against the
Machine will be performing live at the Pinkpop Festival at Megaland in
Landgraaf, Netherland. The festival begins
at 4:00 pm on Friday, June 1.
Los Angeles
born, the American heavy metal band, Rage Against the Machine is headed by Zack
de la Rocha with Tom Morello on guitar, Tim Commerford on bass and Brad Wilk on
the drums. Drawing inspiration from
Public Enemy and Afrika Bambaataa, the group is known for their unique blend of
hip hop, heavy metal and punk as well as la Rocha’s stage energy and rhyming
style and Morello’s guitar techniques.
The band
released their first album, self titled, in 1992. After their appearance in the 1993
Lollapalooza, the band did not release an album until 1996 when they released
Evil Empire. Another three years later
the group released a third album, The Battle of Los Angeles. The group, however, broke up shortly after
the release of their fourth album, Renegades, in 200.
La Rocha
went on to form Audioslave with Chris Cornell of Soundgarden.
The Pinkpop
Festival is the oldest annual festival in the world, according to the Guiness
Book of Records. First held in 1970, the
annual event is held on the Pentecost weekend.
Lasting
three days, the event will welcome 60,000 guests and host performances on three
different stages.
Pinkpop has
featured several artists, such as Rush, Tom
Petty and the Heartbreakers and Rage Against the Machine, plus several other artists.
