John McCain Picks Up Endorsement of George H.W. Bush

John McCain took another major step towards earning the Republican presidential nomination on Monday as former President George H.W. Bush backed the 2008 frontrunner at an event in Houston, Texas.

Stating, “No one is better to lead our nation in these trying times than Senator John McCain,” Bush may have injected McCain’s campaign with a necessary boost in conservative support, something that has been lacking throughout the nomination process.

While the endorsement from Bush may help his conservative cause it could also help clear up the Republican picture by pushing Mike Huckabee closer to a withdrawal from the race.

McCain and Huckabee will be going head-to-head on Tuesday as votes head to the polls in Wisconsin, Washington and Hawaii.
