Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to Perform at New England Dodge Center June 11

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will be performing live at the New England Dodge Center in Hartford June 11 at 8:00 pm.

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers released their first album in 1976 but did not gain recognition until 1977 after the re-release of the single “Breakdown,” which peaked at #40 on the charts in 78.  The band followed the album with Your Gonna Get It!, featuring “I Need to Know” and “Listen to Her Heart” which later became the band’s first gold album.   The band’s third album, Damn the Torpedoes quickly went platinum and featured the band’s breakthrough singes, “Don’t Do Me Like That and Refugee.”

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are spending 2008 on their North American Tour performing at venues across the United States and Canada.  Steve Windwood will open for every show.

Formerly The Meadows, the New England Dodge Music Center is located in Hartford, Connecticut.  The outdoor/indoor amphitheater holds 30,000 people, accommodating 7,500 inside and 22,500 outside during the warmer seasons.

The venue is one of the largest in the country and is a regular stop for Ozzfest, the Family Values Tour and Projekt Revolution.  The facility has also hosted concerts by O.A.R., David Bowie, REM, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Motley Crue, Iron Maiden, the Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam, Aerosmith, Coldplay,Brooks & Dunn, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, Disturbed, Nine Inch Nails, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Roger Waters, Spice Girls, Stevie Nicks, Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears, Linkin Park, My Chemical Romance, John Mayer, System of a Down, Fleetwood Mac, Korn, and Stone Sour.
