Lynyrd Skynyrd will be performing live at the Palace of Auburn Hills on April 19 at 7:00pm.

A Southern rock band, Lynyrd Skynyrd gained popularity in the 1970 with Ronnie Van Zant as the group’s lead vocalist and song writer. Zant tragically died in a plane crash in 1977 with guitar player Steve Gaines and backup singer Cassie Gaines.
Basing the name on Leonard Skinner, a gym teacher at Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville Florida, Lynyrd Skynyrd was a critically acclaimed southern rock group in the 1970’s and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 13, 2006.
The band’s most popular songs include “Free Bird” and “Sweet Home Alabama” which are now considered to be American anthems and must haves for FM radio.
Also known as The Palace, the Palace of Auburn Hills is a sports and entertainment venue in Auburn Hills, Michigan. It has been the home of the Detroit Pistons since 1988 and hosted the Detroit Shock since 1998. It has also served as the home of the Detroit Vipers from 1994 to 2001, the Detroit Safari from 1994-1997 and the Detroit Fury from 2001 to 2004.
