Alsbridge, Inc. released an article today highlighting Remote Infrastructure Management (RIM) as the next wave in outsourcing. Recent studies predict offshore providers to play a larger role in the segment traditionally dominated by US based labor forces such as IBM, EDS, CSC and HP.
“In comparison to infrastructure outsourcing, RIM provides IT organizations the ability to retain control of their physical infrastructure, while avoiding disruptions and costs associated with migrating it to an external service provider,” said CEO, Ben Trowbridge. “The RIM model leverages existing investments with increased service levels for end-users, improved end-user response time through proactive management, reduced costs and increased flexibility.”
Does the RIM drive mean a perpetual disadvantage to the global IT giants? The traditional global vendors for these services will increase their offshore presence to bring their cost structures in line with offshore competitors. Alsbridge affirms however that one size does not fit all in this selection. Each user will have to be careful to choose the right location and provider to deliver this service.
