Summer Planning: It's Decision Time for Parents
Whether it's family vacations or summer academic camps, it's crunch time for parents to make final plans for the summer.
While last minute travel deals might be available, academic summer camps around the country are filling up fast and once the space is gone, it's too late. In fact, Bobbi DePorter, President of SuperCamp, says that enrollments this year are well ahead of last year.
"I think it's a combination of the rebound in consumer confidence and the realization among many parents that their kids need enrichment help beyond what the schools can provide, particularly with the massive budget cuts most school districts have suffered," says Ms. DePorter.
DePorter's SuperCamp programs include teen summer camps for high school students and pre-teen programs for middle school students. The camps are held at prestigious colleges across the country.
All programs at SuperCamp are residential summer camps and are either 7 days or 10 days in duration. Students live on-campus, sleeping in the dorms, eating in the cafeterias and soaking in the college experience.
With SuperCamp now in its twenty-ninth year, parents are aware of its successful results with students, which contributes to camps filling up well ahead of summer. Therefore, Ms. DePorter urges parents who are making plans for the summer to explore SuperCamp's schedule of camps and locations while space remains.
